What’s for Dinner?

Homemade Turkey Burgers!

This is such a simple go to meal in our household. It takes 20 minutes including cooking time and although eating it with chips doesn’t make it the healthiest dinner, someone could easily change the chips to a side to steam broccoli for a healthier night. I just love making these burgers because we always change up what we use to accommodate what ingredients we have on hand.

The ingredients that remain the same include garlic salt, pepper, bread crumbs, and an egg. I had leftover feta cheese so I threw that in and I diced half an onion to throw in too. I love onions and normally I’ll just add it to my actual burger but tonight I felt like mixing it into my burger meat. Half an onion was a lot of onion for the burgers but that was a good thing to me. I also decided to add a few spinach leaves at the last minute. I’ve made burgers with ground turkey and ground beef and I just much prefer how it tastes with ground turkey.

In hindsight, it probably would have been better if I had also cut up the spinach.

After adding in the ground turkey I mixed every up together and then I made 4 burger patties. I could have made about 3-4 more patties but this dinner was just for me and my fiancé so instead I used the extra ground turkey to make meatballs. I threw those into a ziploc bag and froze them. Now all we need is some pasta and tomato sauce and we have another dinner for this week!

I pulled out the George Foreman for this, it’s incredible how quickly it cooks these burgers.

That was after just 2 minutes in the Foreman with it closed. Even though it cooks the burgers from top and bottom I still like to flip them about half way through. There’s really no point but it makes me feel more involved I guess.

And that’s all it takes! I put a slice of provolone cheese on all the burgers and served mine with some spring mix and mayo. My fiancé also added a slice of tomato and mustard to his. If we had an avocado that would’ve gone great on the burger, too. And since these burgers are all about adding what you like, it’s really easy to add the ingredients you have at home that need to be used up.
